Innovation Fund Officer / Ma’an

Program Summary
The mission of Global Communities (formerly CHF International) is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe. Global Communities seeks an Innovation Fund Officer for USAID YouthPower/Jordan Activity, which is a five-year, $23 million, USAID-funded contract.  
The purpose of the USAID YouthPower project is to improve civic engagement of youth. This is accomplished by working with youth to define and explore their agency, and by facilitating youth engagement with their local communities in order to enhance and improve local services. The resulting increase in youth-centered dialogue and activities will empower youth to achieve their goals and better shape their futures.
Job Summary
Working as part of the innovation fund team, the incumbent will be responsible for all department activities in the southern region. This involves developing and supporting youth-community engagement project activities, as well as monitoring implementation of innovation fund grants in support of youth engagement activities. 
Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the innovation fund team representative in the southern region of Jordan. This includes processing, monitoring and supporting all grant activities in the region.
  • Work with youth who have been engaged with the project, to identify and discuss potential initiatives in their communities.
  • Support the youth in developing their initiatives by setting objectives and expected results, and identifying the cost items needed.
  • Monitor grantee activities during implementation to ensure on-time and high quality delivery of activities.
  • Provide continuous assessments of grantee performance against grant objectives.
  • Review and approve proposed scope of work and budget submitted by grantee in terms of reasonability and consistency with the planned activities.
  • Review and approve grantee financial and narrative reports and attesting that they reflect actual activities implemented in the region.
  • Ensure/maintain up to date data on grants tracker. 
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for information and coordinate visits to the region as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong financial and computer skills in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Ability to establish and sustain professional relationships with youth, grantees and local community.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Jordanian Nationality.

Required Qualifications
  • A diploma degree in administration, social development or related field. A Bachelor degree is preferred. 
  • Prior experience working on grants or a related field, preferably on USAID projects.
  • Prior experience working with youth or on youth development programs desired. 
  • Strong knowledge of the southern region, culture and community.
  • The candidate should be a resident of Ma’an Governorate.
