Information and Communications Officer


ROLE PURPOSE: 
The specific objectives of hiring an Info Comms Officer is to have a person who can identify needed information and procure it and can produce regular weekly and biweekly reports, newsletters and situation reports in order to make them accessible for the organization. The person shouldalso has the ability to visually present this information, so computer literacy and proficiency on In Design is a plus, in addition to experience in the field of Education Monitoring Mechanisms.
SCOPE OF ROLE: 
Reports to: Advocacy,Media and Communications Director
Staff reporting to this post: N/A
Role DimensionsInformation provision, data gathering and analysis, communication with area offices and programmes.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
  • The Info Comms Officer is expected to deliver the following outputs:
  • Weekly updated reports supporting the Advocacy team.
  • Biweekly reports and information gathered from area offices. 
  • Regular Sitreps on a series of topics as such COVID-19 Sitrep
  • Design and layout of Newsletter (English and Arabic).
  • Produce accurate, clear and consistent information and communication outputs relating to emergency
    situation and Save the Children’s emergency response – including dashboards and factsheets.
  • Ensure that the relevant documents are made available on internal communications systems (OneNet,
    dropbox, and news bulletins).
  • Ensure that progress of the response is communicated frequently to all staff of the Syria Response
    Office through an internal newsletter/bulletin.
  • Provide support to the media and communications team on key moments as required
  • Ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere
    Charter and Red Cross Code of Conduct.
  • Identify learning and training opportunities for Save the Children staff and work as a
    mentor and role model for less experienced staff.

QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Experience in data gathering and management
  • Experience in managing and maintaining databases, and updating information catalogues, newsletters, reports and sitreps, to make sure that the information they manage is safe, secure and easily accessible.
  • Experience in identifying and procuring information
  • Ability to visualize information, therefore computer literacy on In Design is a plus and is essential for information officers, as a large part of their time will be spent working with digital resources, electronic document.
  • Ability to manage the security, accessibility and quality of consistent information
  • Experience conducting research and media work with children and awareness of the ethical considerations such research implies
  • Sound command and understanding of the context in Syria or the region
  • Ability to identify and interpret relevant data and statistics
  • Ability to present findings in attractive communications style
  • Excellent command in Arabic and English
