Position Title: Construction Engineer
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under the overall supervision of the Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator, Construction Engineer will be responsible to provide technical knowledge, skills and quality in infrastructure and following up with construction process, The Construction Engineer to have extensive experiences in school construction and rehabilitation in host community.
.Major Responsibilities:
Program management and evaluation
- Supervise the implementation of the project on site .
- Liaison with local contractors/ partners/ communities on project implementation
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly progress reports outlining project activities
- Work closely with procurement department for ordering key supplies
- Prepare detailed technical designs, BOQs and estimates related to construction .
Representation
- Represent World Vision in meetings on request of the ECE Coordinator with relevant stakeholders
Advocacy and Communication
- Coordinate with ECE Coordinator and Communication in publishing manual, guideline and success stories in the set-up of the ELC and the impact in Host Community.
Financial Management
- Monitor construction expenses according to bill of quantity, project budget and World Vision financial procedure
- Prepare contractors invoices within time and budget
Senior Management Leadership
- To assist ECE coordinator in situation and program updates, project activities as required
Human Resource Management
- To identify the capacity of contractors
Spiritual Leadership
- Exhibit spiritual maturity, integrity and a dynamic personal sense of life calling
Other Duties
- To develop project planning including designs BOQ TOR and project schedule for construction of ECE projects in general as required
- Evaluate the construction result.
- Any other duty as assigned by the ECE Coordinator
Education: University degree in Civil engineering, infrastructure engineering or related fields
Experience:
Experience in construction at least 2 years
1 year experience in NGO work
Knowledge & Skills:
- Construction experiences and skills
- Good qualifications working on Autocad
- Renovation and rehabilitation experience is preferable
- Excellent English Communication skills (oral and written)
- Commitment to World Vision Core values.
- Understanding of SWM issues in Jordan.
- Cross cultural sensitivity, flexible world view, emotional maturity and physical stamina
- Knowledge of and adherence to NGO Code of Conduct, understands other international development guidelines
