Scope of Work:
The Site Engineer will undertake and supervise the hard component of the Education project which include construction of WASH units. Also, the rehabilitation work. Accordingly, s/he will conduct field visits to supervise the contractor work under the supervision of the project manager and direct technical supervision of the project engineer officer.
Strategy and Planning
- Monitor risks, constraints or escalating issues, and inform the management accordingly.
Project Cycle Management
- Conduct technical assessments for schools and prepare feedback reports.
- Produce structural designs; conduct quality control on structural designs of the engineering office.
- Draft detailed BoQ’s and specifications and conduct quality control on BoQ’s and specifications of the engineering office, conduct quantity surveying for construction/rehabilitation works.
- Monitor daily the LWF Jordan project implementation in the field and ensure that the Contractor/s implement the project according to agreed-upon project specification.
- Provide relevant technical expertise, technical input and guidance to the Contractors in the field during project implementation.
- Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required.
- Suggest structural proposal for construction/rehabilitation variations or additional works that take place during construction/ rehabilitation. To be reviewed and approved by the line manager or project manager.
- On daily basis supervise works at multiple sites.
- Give instructions to the contractor to avoid any deviation in terms of time, quality and designs.
- Approve samples of materials provided by the contractor on site.
- Prepare and take specimens for material testing.
- Together with the contractor’s site engineer, prepare the daily work register and report any issues to the line manager on daily basis.
- On regular basis, prepare progress report of the construction/rehabilitation process in each construction site. Also, will be responsible to send the monthly technical report.
- Support the line manager in planning and reviewing execution plans and work plans for various construction/rehabilitation activities.
- Do market analysis and research on construction materials, methods and technologies that may be applied in construction & rehabilitation projects.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Program Coordination & Networking
- Coordinate with the contractor’s site engineer to implement the work as it require.
Support
- Coordinate with logistic staff according to the car and driver for traveling to the field.
- Write needed PR’s.
Other
- Carry out any other duties as requested by the Construction & WASH Engineer Officer and Education Manager.
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor Degree in civil/structural engineering or architecture.
- Two years of work experience in construction sector.
- Experience in civil design work, knowledge of different engineering software and programs, such as AutoCAD, Prokon
- Knowledge in drafting narrative reports.
- Fluent in Arabic. intermediate in English.
- Proven computer literacy, including good knowledge of MS Office.
