Job Summary:
The Nutrition Officer will work alongside the IYCF Officer and nutrition project manager to ensure that the CMAM program (SFP and OTP) operates effectively and efficiently to deliver optimal quality care to girls and boys under the age of 5 and pregnant & lactating women suffering from moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) and severe acute malnutrition (SAM).
The Nutrition Officer (NO) will report to the Nutrition Project Manager (NPM) to accomplish the following tasks:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- work with the Nutrition Project Manager (NPM) to ensure that National CMAM Guidelines are adopted and strictly followed in the management of cases of moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) and severe acute malnutrition (SAM);
- assess training needs and implement ongoing didactic and on-job training activities targeting the nutrition mobilizers and CMAM/Nutritionist team to build their capacity and enhance program services and practices (active screening and appropriate admissions and follow-up procedures)
- support the weekly and monthly CMAM reporting and timely submission of compiled CMAM reporting;
- report and track progress on the treatment of children with SAM and MAM who were referred to facilities outside the camp and follow-up on their medical nutrition care plans;
- report timely on potential gender challenges that may affect access to healthcare.
- liaise with IMC logistics to ensure adequate and timely provision of standardised anthropometric tools and other nutrition equipment; and
- liaise with Protection, Mental Health, Disability Support and WASH Projects in the camp to meet potential crosscutting needs; and
- support coordinated donor/IMC visits to integrated CMAM services in Zaatri camp.
Deliverables:
- monthly tracking records of malnourished children in SFP/OTP;
- periodic relevant statistical reports and data required by the Nutrition Officer (NO) and Nutrition Project Manager (NPM); and
- Comprehensive periodic and ad hoc reports to inform the supervisors and IMC Field Manager about any security incidents or other related issues.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor degree in human nutrition dietetics, clinical nutrition or very relevant fields. MSc in nutrition related fields is a plus; and
- Good command of spoken and written English
