Support Technician II /Help Desk
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide helpdesk support and resolve problems to the end user’s satisfaction
- Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT helpdesk
- Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software
- Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and on-going usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.
- Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
- Interact with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client server environment. Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems.
- Trains and orients staff on use of hardware and software.
- Recommends and / or performs upgrades on systems to ensure longevity.
- Troubleshooting basic network, software and printing problems.
- Network set-up and trouble shooting.
Education & Professional Experience
- Two year experience in IT support field for Diploma Degree holders in computer Science/IT
- One year experience in IT support field for Bachelor Degree holders in computer Science/IT
- Very good command of English.
- Computer hardware and all types of related communication equipment.
- Good communication skills, able to understand and communicate with a wide variety of people, especially users
- Able to investigate, identify and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Able to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
- Ability to work in shifts and/or outside working hours
