Summary:
Under the supervision of the Camps Program Manager, and in close collaboration with RI’s remedial education team, Drop out Team and Center Coordinators in both camps, Youth Coordinator will provide comprehensive support for students in grades 11 and above, i.e. students who attend remedial classes and prepare for Tawjihi exam. More specifically, Student advisor will provide training in a range of skills that are needed in order for students to pass exams and succeed in a variety of post-secondary opportunities.
Essential Position Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide career advice for high school students.
- Support students in applying for scholarships, including identifying available opportunities as well as support in preparing needed paperwork.
- Follow up on students who pass Tawjihi exam and enroll in post-secondary education by collecting feedback and sharing it with RI field management.
- Follow up on the needs of students who do not pass Tawjihi exam and propose and lead on activities to address challenges for passing exams.
- Organize a range of activities such as educational and recreational field trips outside the camp or Open University days within the camp.
- Link students with existing youth networks within the camp and outside the camp.
- Identify additional, creative and innovative supplementary learning opportunities.
- Develop and implement a series of workshops aimed at mastering students’ 21st century skills (including but not limited to: critical thinking and problem solving; communications and collaboration; creativity and innovation; information literacy; media literacy, ICT literacy; flexibility and adaptability, initiative and self-direction, social and cross-cultural interaction, productivity and accountability, etc).
- Provide support in recruiting and managing international and national volunteers inside the camp, particularly English language volunteers.
- Lead in organization of events, recreational activities, and extracurricular opportunities for students and parents.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience and passion for working with adolescents and youth

- Flexible, understanding, and adaptable; able to work in a low-resource environment
- Experience in delivering trainings/workshops, coaching, mentoring
- Interested/Skills in and knowledgeable about variety of things
- Excellent English language skills

- Master’s degree
- Study/work experience abroad
- Work experience with Syrian refugee youth
