A senior-level water resources engineer and practice builder to is needed in Salt Lake City, UT. This individual is expected to undertake challenging and progressive work identifying projects related to water supply, water treatment, hydraulic and hydrologic analysis and flood control. You are also required to be familiar with and understand the Utah water industry and you must be able to assess the alignment of project opportunities with this client. The person in this position may also manage projects and sub-consultants occasionally, plan and advocate for staff growth as driven by opportunity, and mentor and develop water resources staff.
Business development activities will include cultivating a client network and familiarizing prospective clients with the full range of their services, evaluating project opportunities, and assisting with the development of proposals and cost estimates. Project responsibilities may include client communications, overall project coordination, quality control, plan and specifications review, and managing small teams of professionals. Work may periodically require travel.
Minimum Qualifications
• B.S. in civil or environmental engineering
• Eight years of water supply, water management, or water treatment experience
• Experience with and demonstrated success in business development
• Significant project management experience and strong interpersonal skills
• History of successful project involvement with state and municipal engineers and government officials and regulators
• Strong client service ethic and proven success in meeting client needs
• Understanding of and experience with western water law
• Wide network of local, state, and regional contacts in the water resources field
• History of significant involvement with professional services organizations
• Superior oral and written communication abilities
• Demonstrated project organization and management/leadership skills
• Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs
• Acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Utah and/or nearby state(s)
• Fifteen or more years of relevant experience
• History of successfully pursuing grants and other public funding for municipal projects
• Experience as director of public works for one or more municipalities
• Expertise with water conservation and re-use programs
• History of success in building and maintaining client networks
• Advanced degree and/or specialized experience in civil/environmental engineering
• Proficiency with project management software (e.g. MS Project, Primavera) and Deltek Vision
