Project Coordinator

Vacancy announcement – HIVOS Project
Title: Project coordinator
As part of its programs, the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) is implementing the Gender Barometer Assessment, which is an instrument that tackles the progress in achieving gender equality and enhancing the accountability to the global commitment on policy and grassroots levels. Gender Barometer is basically a Comprehensive Gender Assessment for a specific country including all of its development sectors. It includes standards to be used in measuring and evaluating the reality and level of gender equality in all aspects of life starting from the grassroot level up to the policies and legislations level.
Gender barometer is conducted using two approaches: Quantitative methods of data collection in order to produce quantifiable results focusing on issues which can be counted, such as percentages of women and men in parliament, male and female wage rates or school enrolment rates for girls and boys; quantitative data can show changes in gender equality over time. Qualitative methods capture people’s experiences, opinions, reflections, attitudes and feelings toward gender issues in different sectors, for example women’s experiences of the constraints or advantages of working in the informal sector, or men’s and women’s views on the causes and consequences of domestic violence.
The Gender Barometer Assessment acts as a country comprehensive gender assessment and is supported by the Humanist Institute for Cooperation (Hivos) as part of its Women Empowered for Leadership (WE4L) program. JNCW is implementing this project in cooperation with the Center for Strategic Studies (JCSS) at the University of Jordan, where JCSS is responsible for conducting the qualitative and quantitative data analysis for the exercise.
In order to follow up on the implementation of the exercise and under the direct supervision of JNCW and Hivos, JNCW is seeking to recruit a full-time project coordinator to contribute to the implementation of the project. The project coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Producing briefings to JNCW and Hivos on the project activities and providing inputs on the implemented and planned activities.
  • Providing feedback on produced content when relevant.
  • Supporting in developing communication and advocacy messages related to the project with CBOs, government and donors.
  • Supporting the data collection process through conducting focus groups meetings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Making sure that the project activities are feeding into other JNCW activities and projects to ensure complementarity and avoid replication; especially the National Women Strategy.
