Professional Filmmaker-Short-term consultancy
BACKGROUND:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, we restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. The IRC leads the way from harm to home. The International Rescue Committee began relief operations in Jordan in 2007 to respond to a massive influx of Iraqi refugees. Today, IRC programming in Jordan is focused on refugees fleeing Syria’s civil war.
SCOPE OF WORK, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED ANALYTICAL WORK
“The IRC Jordan proposes to employ a high quality professional videographer/filmmaker to produce two videos:”
1- The video produced should be 3 – 5 minutes long and would combine footage from selected sites, offices and interviews in Northern Jordan and Amman to focus on the key messages that addresses the IRC mission in Jordan.
2- The video produced should be 3 – 5 minutes long and would combine footage from selected sites, offices and interview in Northern Jordan to focus on the IRC’s community volunteers.
The successful candidate is to feel ownership of the assignment in terms of planning, scheduling interviews and shooting days, scripting, the selection of footage, etc.
Responsibilities and Deliverables:
The videographer will work independently, though under direction of and in collaboration with the IRC Jordan Advocacy and communications team.
The specific responsibilities include:
• Create a clear story line prior to shooting.
• Shooting of six sites in Northern Jordan and Amman.
• Coordinate sites, staff and volunteers selection with the IRC team.
• Prepare interview questions, along with other related content required for the video, with the help and supervision of the IRC’s Advocacy and Communications team.
• Conduct interviews with stakeholders if needed.
• Provide professional subtitling in English or Arabic in a timely and accurate manner
• Capture and showcase the IRC key messages throughout the 1st video as well as messages of community volunteers in the 2nd video.
• Committed to modify output as many times as necessary until desired outcome is achieved.
• The approval of the Project team and Communications team is crucial for every step within the completion of the video.
• Quick response to feedback and comments.
• Propose different styles and ideas for the video to choose from, creative liberty is advised.
• Flexibility to deal with ad-hoc requests on the video.
• Submitting first draft, second, third and final cut video - according to the preapproved time frame.
• Ensure clear and efficient communication with communications team, project team and other stakeholders.
Skills
Education:
A degree in Art & Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communications, Mass Communications, Film Production, Film Studies, or Animation. If a degree is not available, then 5 years of equivalent experience in the field.
Work Experience and Technical Requirements:
- Strong background, at least five years, in professional videography
- Experience in video production\editing for development projects
- Proven experience in multiple video styles including info graphics, 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Live Action and others
- Working with similar international organizations is preferable
- Good knowledge of technical requirements for indoor and outdoor videography
- Own or have the ability to acquire related equipment.
- Ability to supply copies of the video on short notice.

- Relevant sample of work, at least 3 videos on related topics or similar fields
- Technical proposal:
o Concept note (your initial vision on how you are going to create the video)
o Equipment, techniques and methodology you will use
o Time frame for production and post-production processes
