ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Scope of Work:
She is coordinating and monitoring the medical activity of the midwives and the nurses in the Maternity unit of the project according to the protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care.
Accountabilities:
  • Ultimately responsible for overall organization of the midwives in the unit. she acts as an advisor, supervisor for the midwives team process pertaining to patient care. She is responsible for implementing evidence based after consultation with the physician in charge and the validation of the hospital manager.  
  • Keeping patients and their families informed of the illness and the treatment to follow, checking that they have been understood. Ensuring professional autonomy and confidentiality are respected and a good attitude and proper bedside manner towards the patient and their care takers and the rest of the midwives.
  • Monitoring the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material and addressing the list of the missing item for maternal care.
  • Creates a quality assurance plan by conducting monthly reviews, clinical incident reviews.
  • Assuring general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
  • Managing the team under her direct responsibility according to International Medical Corps HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations,
  • Directly participating and following the Patient in the labor room and post-delivery ward provide education to patients.
  • Any other task as necessary and assigned by the hospital manager.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Valid Midwifery  Diploma with license to practice from the MoH.
  • A bachelor degree in nursery/midwifery is highly preferable
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Midwife
  • Valid board registration
  • Experience in INGO will be desirable.

Job summary:
The Senior Grants Officer is part of International Medical Corps Jordan country office team and requires working with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Under the general direction of the Director of Programs and technical guidance from the Grants Manager, the Grants Officer and acting media officer will assist in ongoing proposal development efforts, Reporting and visibility.
The position holder works to enhance International Medical Corps Jordan’s visibility through coordinating with project managers and field staff to produce quality visibility and communication materials. S/he will be responsible help in organizing program documentation and developing briefing papers. S/he shall remain up to date with humanitarian and development needs; donor priorities and plans in Jordan and work along with the Senior Management and HQ in strategizing and making informed decisions on maximizing International Medical Corps portfolio in Jordan.

Job Summary:

Proposal development
  • Under the direction of Grants Manager and Director of Programs, assist in the preparation of concept notes and initiate negotiations with donors, coordinating and consulting with the team
  • Maintain plans and procedures for the production and approval of proposals; write detailed, high quality proposals for large statutory/institutional donors in coordination with technical Managers and budget holders
  • Contribute to the development of good quality project proposals for funding: This includes discussion with IMC Jordan Country office management team as well as with the program development focal person at International Medical Corps Head Quarters
  • Keep up to date with donor policies and application processes, remaining abreast of major development assistance agreements and potential NGO funding opportunities
  • Assist in the tracking of new funding opportunities and calls for applications/proposals.
  • Participate in developing a sound funding strategy to lay foundations for increasing and broadening the institutional funding that meets the needs of International Medical Corps Jordan country office and that can be taken forward by the staff in the future
  • Assist in managing grant files both in soft and hard copies and contracts to ensure compliance with donor rules and regulations
  • Carry out rapid needs assessments and participates in document review/research to establish solid facts and justifications for programme ideas and concepts.
  • Regularly monitor the latest related assessments, surveys and updates, and identify new trends, gaps and opportunities for proposal development. Support in the collection of necessary qualitative data through field visits, surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions for proposal development need as required.
  • Regularly monitor the local media, and the accredited data portals, and report on any updates that could affect or create opportunities for the program interventions.
  • Ensure that successes, gaps, achievements, challenges and opportunities identified in current projects’ reports are reflected in the new proposals and linked accordingly.
  • Ensure that situation analysis is always updated in each new proposal, achievements in previous interventions are stated, bottlenecks are avoided, success is built on, and gaps are being covered,
  • Attend with Grants Manager proposal-related donor meetings and make necessary adjustments to the proposal accordingly.
  • Develop the proposal calendar and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Support the Grants and MEAL Coordinators in agreement finalization and holding the Grant Kick-off Meeting.
  • Predict and prevent bottlenecks in proposal development process by staying abreast of all proposal components and allocating extra resources where needed. Responsible for ensuring donor requirements of each solicitation are fully satisfied.
  • Overall backstopping functions for the Program, as guided by Grants Manager.

Donor and Government Reporting

  • Ensuring project approval and timely submission of Action plans to MOH and to MOPIC though JOPRISS.
  • Ensure timely reporting to the government and respond to their requests in coordination with Community Programmes Coordinator.
  • Preparation of donor reports when requested by the Grants Manager- Main responsibilities: UN grants reporting.

Media, visibility and Communications            

  • Take initiatives in designing methods of capturing learning from programs for reflection and action as well as sharing with the wider organizations through communicating best practices
  • Take a lead in designing and developing various visibility materials, such as briefing papers, brochures, information sheets, posters, and others, to improve International Medical Corps Jordan’s visibility.
  • Develop updated communication materials related to International Medical Corps Jordan and its programs to be shared with donors, Government and International Medical Corps head quarter as necessary e.g. quarterly News letter
  • Develop and follow up the implementation of donor visibility and branding plans in all active proposals
  • Assist technical managers in developing sector specific IEC/BCC materials in all active grants.
  • Proactively seek out interesting stories from projects, initiating or accompanying field visits to collect high quality photos, quotes and possibly audio and video material suitable for use in media and communication work
  • Make sure that all quotes and photos are sent quickly to International Medical Corps head quarter for use by their communications, fundraising and media as well as storage on central databases
  • Encourage, train and support program staff to understand the need to communicate strong human interest stories from their work and sharing ideas with you and championing any resulting successes (e.g. media hits)
  • Develop a quarterly newsletter with key program information for internal and external stakeholders
  • Have regular contact with key communication staff at HQ (UK, Santa Monica, LA)
  • Serve as a focal person for donor or other communication related visits on the field 
Additional Tasks
  • Assist in the preparation of non- UN donor reports when requested by the Grants Manager

  • At the request of the Grants Manager and Director of Programs, assist with additional tasks not falling under responsibilities outlined in this job description.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5 years of experience writing proposals for INGOs, International agencies, and/or other donors, or 5 years of experience in INGO program management.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic, excellent writing and translation skills.
  • High accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills that include MS Office and desktop publishing.
  • Ability to work well independently with limited supervision and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to travel overseas on short-term assignments.
  • Willingness to work outside of business hours, including some evenings and weekends, in order to ensure that proposal deadlines are met.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a relevant competency area.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of and/or experience writing proposals for US government funders and/or other international institutional donors, such as ECHO, DFID, private foundations/funders, etc.
  • Prior experience working with an international NGO, preferably in the humanitarian sector.
  • Proven knowledge of proposal development procedures and RFA/RFP processes of USAID and other USG donors as well as European donors.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to assess field program needs.
  • Flexibility for field assignments and travel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to assure prompt and appropriate coordination of proposals and program development plans.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and some prior background in proposal budgeting and/or reviewing/editing budgets in Excel.

  • advising about and supporting parents in the daily care of their newborn babies Il-helping parents to cope with miscarriage, termination, stillbirth and neonatal death
