Project Assistant - Pharmacist ( Mobile Clinic )


JOB TITLE:  Project Assistant / Pharmacist (Mobile Clinic)
Reporting To: Health Project Officer        DEPARTMENT: Programs (Health)
Grade: 4 G          
Salary : 636 JD per month 
LOCATION: South of Jordan / Karak 

ORGANISATIONAL PURPOSE:
Islamic Relief Jordan (IRJ) began its operations in 1997 with orphan’s sponsorship, sponsoring hundreds of orphans living in Jordan. IRJ extended its programs to seasonal projects with Ramadan and Qurbani distributions and In-Kind donations. IRJ has established a strong partnership with international non-governmental organization and local one’s strengthening the overall response to the Syria crisis. At the onset of Syria humanitarian crisis in late 2011, IRJ provided emergency response to those affected by violence in Syria and has since then scaled up its capacity and operations with a number of 110 staff across the country.

JOB PURPOSE AND OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the guidance of the Medical Doctor and Project officer, the Male/Female pharmacist is responsible for the overall implementation of basic pharmacist duties in the Mobile clinic, prescribing medications and providing needed education for beneficiaries.

Major Responsibilities:
The pharmacist will be specifically responsible for performing the following activities in close collaboration with the medical doctors and other clinic staff, provides professional care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Duties include:
• Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities and review doses.
• Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Receive and prepare the clients for medical doctor examination.
• Conducting vital signs measurements and other medical checkups if needed.
• Preparing equipment and ensuring examination rooms are stocked with required supplies and materials.
• Aiding physician as required during treatment and examination.
• Updating patients’ registration books and other related appointment information.
• Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Organize the stock management of drugs and mobile clinic commodities.
• Responsible for medication management, pharmacy, inventory, and prescriptions books.
• Preparing and facilitating regular health education sessions for patients in the clinic, regarding medication usage or other health-related education.
• Ability to provide reports on cases, medications, and analysis.
• Performing other related duties as may be assigned.

Referral:
• Obtain All patients needed documents and medical report.
• Continuously update the work plan and related key documents.
• Close follow up with all patients and ensure obtaining the required documentation.
• Make sure that all beneficiaries are aware of the donor and the health assistance data.
• Responsible to maintain all beneficiaries’ record.

Technical skills and experience:
• Strong Analysis skills of the needs, social and political context.
• Strong Communication and Listening Skills.
• High documentation skills.
• A Genuine Desire to Help People.
• Good Humanitarian Experiences especially with refugees.
• Reliable medical knowledge and medications experience.

Core humanitarian competencies:
• Understanding of humanitarian contexts and principles.
• Understanding of Islamic relief values and principles.
• Good understanding of humanitarian issues, with experience of/or ability to work directly with NGOs, CBO’s and communities.
• Knowledge of Jordan key aspects in terms of its political, economic and social trends plus a good understanding of the key development and humanitarian issues in the region.
• Sympathy with the aims and objectives of the organization and a commitment to humanitarian principles and INGO's code of conduct.
• Demonstrated experience of integrated gender and diversity into humanitarian response programs.

Developing and maintaining relationships:
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.
• Ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural environment.
• Ability to effectively influence and liaise with key stakeholders on behalf of and in line with Organizational beliefs.
• Make sure that all beneficiaries are aware of the donor and the health assistance details terms.
• Responsible to maintain all beneficiaries’ record.

Managing yourself in a pressured and changing environment:                         
• Demonstrated ability at being flexible and adapt to changing situations.
• The ability to remain calm while dealing with conflicting priorities and working under pressure.
• Operating safely and securely in humanitarian response.


Developing and maintaining reporting procedures: 
• Make sure that all beneficiaries’ information is recorded in the patient file.
• Provide daily, and weekly reports for the project officer.
• Report on a weekly basis the number of assessed cases and beneficiaries received health services.
• Reports to project manager any risks and challenges anticipated during the project implementation.
• Provides regular updates and reports on progress in areas of responsibilities. 

 Qualification:
• Prefer to have a Bachelor’s Degree in pharmacy.
• Have a valid license.
• NGO Experience is preferable.
• At least 2 years’ experiences in pharmacy or clinic settings.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to handle pressure.
• Have excellent management for storages, medical warehousing, and medical orders.
• Ability to Follow up with patients and ensure receiving good quality service.
• Excellent in excel and managing data forms.
• Excellent reporting skills in Arabic and English.

Languages:
• Very good in spoken and written English.
• Fluency in spoken and written Arabic
