The Jordan Rule of Law Project (ROLP) is funded by The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Tetra Tech International, Inc. The purpose of ROLP is to support Jordanian efforts to enhance government accountability to citizens; strengthen the rule of law to better protect human and legal rights; and increase the effectiveness of civil society and private sector organizations to advocate for their interests, provide services to their members, and participate in governing processes
Terms of Reference:
Employee will serve as the Junior Accountant on the Rule of Law Program (ROLP) in Jordan and will carry out duties designed to meet the objectives of the project. Under the general and technical direction of the ROLP the Accounting Manager, the Employee will carry out the following duties:
- Support Finance Team in overseeing the project accounting cycle.
- Prepare disbursement vouchers.
- Prepare cheques/online wire transfers.
- Interact with vendors, banks, and other officials as needed.
- Track payments to avoid double payments and analyze cost comparison and cost reasonableness.
- Input entries to QuickBooks, including grant, consultant, petty cash, intern, vendor payments, etc.
- Scan and file monthly financial packages.
- Update Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) tracker.
- Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Senior Operations Manager.
- This job description will be amended with specific roles and responsibilities by the Senior Operations Manager as those are defined and delegated
Minimum Qualifications
Employee will meet the following minimum qualification standards for the positions, where appropriate experience equivalent has been indicated:
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ progressively responsible experience in accounting, financial management, or a related area.
- Prior experience on USAID or other donor-funded projects preferred.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
