Job Announcement
Title:  Local Associate 
Unit:  Program Support
Reports to:  Financial Services officer 
Location:  Al Azraq, Jordan
Type:  full-time, Project (exempt)
Travel:  Yes, 50% of time
Position pending. September 2019 anticipated start date.
The Near East Foundation (NEF) is seeking candidates for a Local Associate to be based in Al Azraq, Jordan. For over 100 years, NEF has worked to build more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive communities in the Middle East and Africa through education, governance, and economic development initiatives. Working through a network of country offices and local partners, NEF currently operates in nine countries: Armenia, Jordan, Lebanon, Mali, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal, Syria and Sudan. Its programs are organized around three themes: Inclusive Economic Development, Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Management, and Peacebuilding.
 Main duties include:
  • Supervise and evaluate activities of program and the field work;
  • Supervise and manage a team of volunteers to ensure project activities are implemented as outlined in proposal;
  • Assign tasks to staff members and Volunteers and provide follow up and guidance;
  • Contribute to establishing and implementing operational work plans, setting clear targets and activity plans per activities/trainings in direct coordination with head office and partners;
  • Maintain continuous line of communication with country-office on daily basis;
  • Ensure smooth exchange of information respectively between partners and volunteers’ program, beneficiaries, and the community;
  • Provide technical support as needed;
  • Contribute in ongoing field assessments and data collection and entry as/when required;
  • Ensure that data is accurately collected, entered, and shared on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis;
  • Provide information and advice for beneficiaries and walk ins in the Siraj center on existing services;
  • Collaborate with partners and other agencies when required;
  • Compile relevant information on available services in assigned location
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate distribution of materials when needed;
  • Maintain records, reports problems or concerns to country office and partners;
  • Support other project activities as needed.
Required Qualifications: 
  • University degree in Social Sciences or any other relevant degree.
  • Minimum of two-year experience in community mobilization in international NGOs.
  • Familiar with Report Writing.
  • Familiar with the cultural, socio-economic and political environment in the relevant districts.
  • Knowledge of basic IT tools, in particular MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
