Fleet Safety Coordinator

PURPOSE, SCOPE AND IMPACTThe Fleet Safety Coordinator is the focal point for selected communication and, where applicable, prevention programs or topics at the delegation level. S/he helps position the delegation by strengthening its external networking and contributes to setting and implementing priorities, objectives and strategies. S/he supports the orientation, planning, monitoring and evaluation of the delegation’s communication and, where applicable, prevention activities and may supervise and provide technical support to the team.• Financial responsibilities: overseas the Fleet Safety program budget.

- Assess and disseminate communication and prevention objectives for the geographic or thematic area defined in the annual objectives, in line with the priorities of the field sub-structure(s) and/or the delegation’s communication and prevention strategy. Prevention here is related to accidents on the road for the ICRC fleet worldwide.
- Directly support the delegations in networking with external bodies specialized in road and fleet safety, to assist these delegations engage in regular cooperation with such bodies, in order to ensure regular road safety dissemination and advocacy among ICRC vehicle users, at the same time enhancing the communication skills of the fleet safety relays.
- Responsible for running and coordinating ICRC’s fleet safety activities regionally in support or replacement of 1st incumbent.
- Carries out communicational activities to the regions and delegations as well as 3rd parties such as National Societies.
- Assist in implementing and evaluating relevant activities related to road and fleet safety, and adapting supporting tools within the geographic or thematic area covered, including community engagement, with an eye on cultural differences.
- Works to enhance ICRC acceptance and promote Fleet Safety Program by representing the ICRC to relevant audiences, e.g. national/local authorities and relevant entities working in the same field.
- Contributes to the delegation’s fleet safety related policies, guidance and programs.
- Supervises fleet safety relays’ performance.
- Develops and deploys Fleet Safety related training in coordination with the chosen relays in every ICRC delegation, worldwide.
RELATIONSHIPS
- Internally, interacts with Fleet Safety relays in delegations, logisticians, Fleet responsible, Communication officers, and Finance & Administration Managers.
- Externally, interacts with Partners of the Movement, local authorities in accident prevention and road safety, Police Department regulating road safety.
- Be aware of the delegation's objectives and activities.
- Understand the three components of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
- Apply the security rules at all times.
- Respect and observe the staff regulations of the ICRC in Jordan.
- The employee may be asked to perform other duties not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when and if necessary.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED

- 6 – 9 years professional experience including 5 years’ experience in a communication-related field (preferably within the ICRC).
- Minimum 1 year experience in an ICRC operation required.
- Confirmed capacity to represent ICRC.
- Ability to work in a team but also independently.
