INTERSOS is an Italian humanitarian organization that works all over the world bringing assistance to people in danger, including victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. We intervene to effectively meet the needs of people in crisis, with particular attention to vulnerable groups, women and children. We provide primary assistance in terms of food, shelter, medical assistance and basic goods, while also ensuring that basic needs, education, safe water and health needs are met during the recovery phase.
Since 2012, INTERSOS has had operations in the Middle East to contribute towards ensuring emergency relief and social protection assistance for Syrian refugees fleeing their home in search of safety, with special focus on most vulnerable groups (children, women, elderly and persons with special needs).
In Jordan, INTERSOS has focused its humanitarian response on supporting Syrian families displaced across urban and rural areas, as well as vulnerable host communities, with a programme that concentrates on protection and protection mainstreaming within the different sectors of intervention that compose the Country Strategy (Protection, Child Protection, Education in Emergency, WASH, Shelter and Basic Needs including Cash and Winterization Assistance).
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The Finance Officer is a key member of the Finance Department for INTERSOS Jordan program. She / he has to works collaboratively with other team members to ensure the compliance of INTERSOS’s policy, procedure and donor regulation. The FO works under the direction of Country Finance Manager in supporting relevant departments and other programs and all financial and accounting activities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Under the direct supervision of the Country Finance Manager, the Finance Officer will be responsible of:
Generic responsibilities:
  1. Ensure compliance with INTERSOS’s policies, guidelines and standards.
  2. Ensure compliance with support function strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards.
  3. Specific technical responsibility for implementation of the finance function.
  4. Provide specific technical support and capacity building towards finance support and program staff.
  5. Monitor the progress of team activities and ensure they are implemented according to standards.
  6. Implement complex systems and procedures in line with INTERSOS policies, SOP’s and handbooks.
  7. Assess, promote and document ideas of technical improvement and further program development options.
Specific responsibilities:
  1. Book-keeping accounting entries acording to INTERSOS’s standard.
  2. Follow up with Implementing partner on financial reports, payments, supporting documentation and registration of Journal entries.
  3. Provide trainings and capacity building internally and externally when it is needed on the financial aspects.
  4. Submitting weekly accountcy to PM’s and other department’s with closely follow up on codes verifciation.
  5. Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
  6. Monitor and control cash flows between country office, field offices and head quarter.
  7. Responsible to update running cost allocations.
  8. Provide Finance verification up to her/his limit and ensure there is proper supporting documentation for all payments and accounting entries.
  9. Assist Finance Assistant in labelling and archiving financial transactions properly.
  10. Review and verifiy payroll before issuing transfers.
  11. Update the finance section of outstanding contracts sheet.
  12. Responsible for checking the daily cash reconciliations with the Finance Assistant.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by Country Finance Manager.
Accountability:
  • Ensure maintaining high confidentiality of information, up to date documents, including processes and verification.
Human Resources:
  • Supervise the team members reporting to you, provide support and training, promote a friendly and professional working environment, and ensure staff development and learning environment.
  • Ensure your team performance appraisals are reviewed regularly and conducted as per INTERSOS HR policies and procedures.
Working Relationships:
  • Proactively engage with your supervisor and key staff.
  • Proactively engage on a regular basis with your supervisor to develop working networks to seek advice where needed.
Representation:
  • Represent INTERSOS in a positive and professional manner to contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of INTERSOS mandate, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to other actors.
Security:
  • Ensure the application of, and compliance with, security protocols and policies of you and your supervised staff.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • Bachelors university degree in finance, business administration or other related field.
Professional requirements
  • Experience of 3 years working on a finance role, of which 2 year as a Finance Officer position in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Previous experience in working with external donor funding.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  •  Very high follow up and tracking skills.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Result oriented behavior.
  • Mid to high level of excel skills.
  • Previous knowledge of working with Accounting Software.
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision.
  • Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of INTERSOS.
