Place in the Organisation
The incumbent of this post reports administratively and technically to the
Deputy CFICIP and coordinates with the draftspersons in the ICIP as
required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
 Advises the user departments on the architectural design of existing facilities
that need architectural alterations and develops preliminary design and
planning schemes based on available resources: land and funds;
 Supervises the computer aided preparation of preliminary and detailed
architectural drawings for the construction projects in Jordan, the production of
the final drawings as part of the tender documents and follows-up as required
on the production of presentation materials such as the models and threedimensional drawings for projects assigned to him/her;
 Assists in the preparation of the project programme and co-ordinates with user
departments;
 Participates in the review of a design manual including planning and design
standards, details and criteria in coordination with the supervisor and the user
departments;
 Follows up on the implementation of the architectural design in the Fields
rendering site visits as requested.
 Keeps abreast of the latest development of new materials and methods in
his/her own field and their impact on design and construction;
 Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 A university degree in architecture.
 Formal training in computer aided design
 At least four years of post-graduate professional experience in the application
of the knowledge required above.
 Sound knowledge of local practice, construction regulations and materials in
the Middle East.
 Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
Competencies
 Creativity and ability to take initiative;
 Leadership skills;
 Familiarity with the culture of the refugees host countries.
 Knowledge of development, planning and architectural aspects in the Middle
East;
 Ability to work under pressure.

Other Information
This vacancy is an area staff post and open for local staff residing in the duty

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
In accordance with established policy and procedures:
 Implements and supervises the maintenance programme;
 Conducts annual technical surveys of all Agency buildings and installations with the
assistance of Area Maintenance Supervisions to determine maintenance priorities and
the quantities of maintenance required;
 Carries out contract administration duties in coordination with the Office Engineer
including the preparation of bills of quantities, cost estimates for quantities and
materials, specifications, tender and contract documentation, interim and final
payment certificates, etc.
 Responsible in coordination with the Office Engineer for the preparation of budgets
and for maintenance cost and expenditure control;
 Implements and supervises other Engineering programmes as directed by the Deputy
Field Technical Officer. These include the maintenance and construction of roads,
the repair of reconstruction of refugee shelters, self-help projects, etc.;
 Prepares an annual work plan for all maintenance and other works under the
responsibility of the Maintenance Engineer and updates same at regular intervals;
 Prepares a monthly maintenance progress report in coordination with the Office
Engineer;
 Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
 University degree in civil (or structural) engineering from a university or college recognized
by UNRWA
 Seven years’ experience in related field of work.
 Good knowledge of English and Arabic.

 Ability to work under stress and pressure;
 Excellent communication skills.
 Demonstrated problem-solving skills;
 Strong leadership/supervisory skills
