Job Description and Requirements
Job Purpose
Architecture Engineer/ Landscape will be responsible for the implementation of Green infrastructure project for the rehabilitation component, funded by BMZ/GIZ. S/he will be responsible for successful delivery of landscape of the project to high quality standards, determines aesthetic design and practical technical solutions for the planning and implementation of external spaces including hardscapes, softscapes, streetscapes etc. the project sites will be in East Amman.

Under the authority of:
  • Project Coordinator
Line Management:
  • Site supervisors, CfW
 Objectives
  1. To ensure successful delivery of the landscape in all GIZ project sites.
  2. To improve the living conditions and livelihoods of vulnerable Jordanians and Syrian refugees in East Amman.
  3. Vulnerable Jordanians and Syrian refugees have increasing access to green infrastructure and employment opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Objective 1:
  1. Review project designs and update project layout and B.O.Q in accordance with GIZ and GAM comments.
  2. To assist the Project Coordinator of technical implementation (specially related to landscape architecture) of the work in the project site;
  3. Propose solutions to the specified construction/design issues.
  4. Demonstrating an understanding of the aesthetic and technical components of landscape architecture.
  5. Overseeing Landscape and project design execution.
  6. Close Coordination with other relevant ACTED staff such as other ACTED Engineers, AME, HR, Logistics and security.
  7. Prepare daily site progress reports outlining project activities, prepare detailed estimates related to construction, highlight challenges and propose solutions and corrective action to Project Coordinator.

  9. Represent ACTED in meetings with relevant project stakeholders and actors after project manager consent. Support Project Manager in coordination & Communication of project success stories, progress on construction component of the project and the impact of ACTED intervention in the intervention area.
  10. Strict commitment towards construction safety and COVID 19 spread prevention procedures approved by ACTED, GIZ , MOH &/or MOL.
Objective 2:
  1. S/he will assist the Project Coordinator on CfW worker selection ahead of each CfW cycle.
  2. S/he will be accountable for Making sure that all of the CfWs are following the safety procedures and there is strong rules in place on monitoring and controlling the workers safety on the designated site(s).
  3. Responsible for safe keeping, handling and management of the project resources at the implementation site.
  4. Inspect and monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to standards, building codes, and specifications
  5. Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs and marking the layout drawings.
  6. Supervise the workers during the landscaping technical implementation of the project step by step.
  7. S/he accountable for Warehouse management for the designated site (s).
Objective 3:
  1. Ensure successful execution of land escapes in all project sites.

Key Performance Indicators
  1. Number of completed & handed over landscapes ‘’on time’’ in all project sites.
  2. Number of hired & Sustained CFW in the designated site (s) as per the project requirement.
  3. Percentage of the turnover of the CfWs in the designated site(s).
  4. 100% Percentage of Warehouse stock accuracy.
  5. Project records and documents (CfWs list, attendance sheets, CfWs tools distribution sheet, meal distribution sheets) available for designated site (s) activities.
  6. % of CfW trained as per project requirements
  7. Zero recordable safety incidents in the designated project site(s).

Key qualities / qualifications required 
  1. BSc in Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field (relevant field experience can substitute for academic qualifications but not vice-versa).
  2. Minimum 7 years of experience in project management in an international relief or development setting including team management and liaison with various stakeholders (e.g. local communities, other NGOs, UN agencies), in addition, experience in Rehabilitations of parks and concrete stairs, BoQ development, contractor management, experience in green building/outdoor areas design is preferred. 
  3. Minimum 3 years of experience in CfWs programmes.
  4. Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
  5. Ability to train, mobilize, and manage staff
  6. Flexibility and ability to multi-task under pressure.
  7. Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office.
  8. Being aware about any new techniques can be implemented for the green infrastructure component.
  9. Ability to use computer program such as Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketchup, In-design, Land FX
