Respiratory Therapist Assistant
Responsibilities and Duties
- The Respiratory Therapy Assistant works under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist. Main job to manage the equipment which includes ensuring it is readiness to use and functioning properly.
- Serve as support personnel for respiratory therapists. Working with equipment and machines that used to treat the patient.
- Adhere to internal controls established for respiratory therapy services.
- Follow infection control policies and procedure.
- Perform scheduled sterilization for machines and different unit instruments.
- Perform transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory related equipment.
- Maintain and clean various types of respiratory care equipment in order to provide safe patient care.
- Transport dirty equipment to area using appropriate infection control techniques.
- Appropriately handles and uses cleaning and disinfectant solutions and equipment.
- Perform routine check-up of arterial blood gas machines.
- Document all inspections, safety checks, repairs, calibration problems, etc. in the appropriate files.
- Perform electrical safety inspection according to department and hospital policies and procedures.
- Check equipment to ensure appropriate function.
Education & Professional Experience
- Collage graduate of Allied Health Care (Nursing, Medical technologist)
- Good command of oral and written English.
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook).
