ABOUT RI:
Relief International (RI) specializes in relief and development programs that benefit people in acute distress. A registered non-profit in the US, UK, France and Belgium, our work targets those fragile countries or communities that suffer from man-made or natural crises that impede human development. The people that we serve live in 14 countries across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia where the debilitating effects of political instability, forced displacement, and natural disasters are pervasive. RI has been working in Jordan since 2004, providing vital services to refugees and vulnerable host communities across the country.
Position Summary
The Instructor will be teaching one of the core subjects: Math (calculus), Science (physical and life sciences), English Language skills and IT (computer skills & information technology), at the level of upper high secondary school to refugees’ students, who have completed Tawjehi, at the Zaatari Refugee Camp in one of the core subjects (Math, Science, English and IT) which they need to access higher education at the university. The instruction will be in English, where a blended learning approach will be used in the delivering of the course; 70%, will be face to face and 30% online. Besides demonstrating mastery on the selected topics in English and showing progress in using process skills, the students are expected to show an understanding of the nature of core subjects and how knowledge, technology and society influence one another.
Position Responsibilities and Duties

  • To plan and prepare appropriately the teaching material required or blended learning.
  • To conduct the assigned classes (physical or virtual classrooms) at the scheduled times.
  • To plan and implement effective classroom management practices.
  • To provide opportunities for students to access and use current technology, resources, and virtual laboratories, to develop their (Math, Science, English and IT) process skills.
  • To provide opportunities for students to apply and practice what is learned.
  • To build students’ ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • To maintain a safe, orderly environment conducive to learning.
  • To apply appropriate multiple assessment tools and strategies to evaluate and promote the continuous intellectual development of the students.
  • To assign reasonable assignments and homework to students.
  • To evaluate students’ performances in an objective, fair and timely manner
  • To record and report timely the results of quizzes, assignments, and exams.
  • To be punctual and  to comply with RI  policies, standards, rules, regulations and procedures
  • To prepare and maintain course files.
  • To attend and participate meetings and activities according to RI policy.
  • To demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities.
  • To work collaboratively with other professionals and staff.
  • To create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • To model honesty, fairness and ethical conduct.
  • To demonstrate skill when managing student behavior, intervening and resolving discipline problems.
  • To model good social skills, leadership and civic responsibility.
  • To carry out any other related duties assigned by the department chairman.

Qualifications and Requirements: 
  • A bachelor/master’s degree in “subject course” (Math, Science, English and Computer) or any related field.
  • Excellent English skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Minimum 3 years full time experience in teaching (Math, Science, English and IT), preferably with online learning.
  • Previous experience with refugees or vulnerable communities.
  • Experience and passion for working with youth.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, understanding, and adaptable team player; able to work in a low-resource environment.
