Background/IRC Summary:

Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan. IRC’s programs in Jordan focus on urban interventions in the north that address primary and reproductive health care needs of the Syrian refugees and vulnerable host community members through two fixed clinics based in Ramtha and Mafraq, a mobile clinic in Mafraq and Syrian refugees through the Zaatari and Azraq camp clinic.
Job Overview/Summary: The position will be responsible for providing essential reproductive health services to the refugees at the IRC health facility in either the Mafraq mobile clinic and the Azraq camp clinics.
Major Responsibilities: The Midwife will be specifically responsible for performing the following activities:
- Providing clinical care to women and adolescents for reproductive health problems
- Providing advice, care and support for women and their babies during antenatal and postnatal periods
- Developing, assessing and evaluating individual program of care
- Identify high risk cases and refer to doctors and other secondary care facilities
- Provide vaccination services to children, women of child bearing age and pregnant women as per the MoH EPI guidelines for prevention against vaccine preventable diseases
- Ensure that standard procedures for cold chain maintenance are followed for storage of vaccines in the health facility
- Arranging and providing health education on reproductive health issues
- Providing counselling and advice to all patients related to reproductive health
- Manage inventories of RH commodities in a professional and tidy manner ensuring accountability in collaboration with the Senior Health Officer (in charge)
- Updating patients registration books and other related appointment information
- Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts and other pertinent information relating to HIS
- Maintaining patient confidentiality
Key Working Relationships:
Position Reports to: Senior Health Officer (in charge)
Position directly supervises: none
Indirect Reporting: Health Manager
Other Internal and/or external contacts.Internal: Medical doctors, nurses and other health staff deployed at the health facility
External: none
Job Requirements:

Work Experience: 1 to 3 years working experience as a midwife
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge on RH protocols and guidelines
- Ability to relate to and motivate local staff effectively
- Committed to helping refugees and working within IRC policies
Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic
Certificates or Licenses: A certified midwife with license of midwifery as per Jordan MOH policy and maintain her license throughout the duration of employment with the IRC

Working Environment: The IRC is providing Primary health Care services to the Syrian Refugees and vulnerable Jordanian communities in Nothern Jordan filed sites in Mafraq, Ramtha, zaatari and also in Azraq. This position will be primarily based in the IRC health facility in the Azraq refugee camp. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is generally calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff informed about the new developments.
