Project Technical Assistant - مساعد تقني للمشروع

The “Improving Living Conditions in disadvantaged Areas in Amman via the implementation of Green Infrastructure (ILCA)” Project in Jordan is seeking for a “Project Technical Assistant” - on a full-time base employment as per below job profile.

Job Profile

Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications

University Degree in Engineering, Development, Political Science, Social Sciences or other relevant fields

Professional experience

  • Minimum 6 months of experience (as intern/junior/entry level) in international/development cooperation projects;
  • Good report and technical writing capabilities are expected;
  • Willingness and ability to support the implementation of field activities in East Amman in coordination with GAM services (first experience needed)
  • Willingness and ability to support the organization of workshops, seminars or other events (first experience needed)
  • Ability to integrate in multidisciplinary teams and different stakeholders;
  • Prior work experience with GIZ is an advantage.

 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English (written and verbal)
  • Basic German language is an advantage
  • Good working knowledge of ITC, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other computer applications,
  • Networking skills essential
  • Very good personal work organization, punctual, thorough

Major Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for: 

  • Supporting the project team in organization, implementation and coordination of activities in the field (with Greater Amman Municipality, communities, services providers, Design and Supervision consultants, Construction contractor(s) and other subcontractors)
  • Support the identification of local service providers for field activities (site activations etc.)
  • Assisting short term consultants during their assignment and facilitate their work
  • Support the coordination of PR service providers (videographer, designers, printers etc.) in the field and at events
  • Supports the preparation, organization and documentation of workshops and events
  • Attends meetings, conferences and events as requested and drafts meeting minutes, background and briefing notes
  • Assisting with general project planning, including preparation, organisation and moderation of planning exercises; and supports coordination of relevant project activities at local level
  • Supporting the team in progress monitoring and reporting.
  • Assists in translation from English into Arabic and vice versa if needed
  • Continuously reporting and coordinating with the project advisors and manager on status and details of projects implementation and field work
  • Representing the interests and always acts on behalf of GIZ

 In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

Tasks

Coordination of Implementation

The position holder: 

  • Assists in implementing the project activities, as needed and requested,
  • Supports the project team in identification, coordination and implementation of activities in the field with stakeholders, consultants, the municipality, service providers and communities
  • Supports the elaboration of further activities for the achievement of project goals and indicators, in particular in relation to field implementation and coordination
  • Assists the project team in the development and design of communication and PR tools and contributes to the Coordination and supervision of PR service providers
  • Supports the coordination and organization of events (Trainings, conferences, workshops etc.)
  • Supports the critical review and assessment of field activities implementation
  • Supports coordination and exchange of information with other projects (GIZ and non GIZ) supporting GAM in the field

Technical Expertise

The position holder:

  • Supports the project team in preparation of ToR and preparation and implementation of tenders, contracting and procurement processes
  • Assists project team in coordination and planning for the timely implementation of partner’s and service providers’ contributions to pilot project development
  • Assists in coordination and implementation of baseline assessments in the field with all relevant partners and stakeholders.
  • Assists the collection and analysis of relevant data and information to assess the impact of the project
  • Contributes to preparing and implementing the coordination process, joint project activities and wor

 Networking and Cooperation

The position holder:

  • Assists the ccommunication and liaison with all relevant stakeholders, and contributes to establishing good relations with them
  • Cooperates with and supports actively GIZ and non-GIZ team members in their assignment/work
  • Rreports back to other team members and where relevant partner organizations / stakeholders
  • Supports the organization, implementation, documentation and facilitation of meetings, regular exchange formats, workshops, conferences, other events etc.

 Knowledge management, networking and communication

The position holder:

  • Assists the development, design and creation of PR and communication tools
  • Assists in translations
  • Supports the project team in internal and external communication of the project
  • Contributes to project monitoring and documents and reports regularly on the status of results and report back to team members
  • Ensures that all relevant documents are archived in the document management system (DMS) of GIZ
  • Supports the preparation, organization and documentation of workshops and events
  • Attends meetings, conferences and events as requested and drafts meeting minutes, background and briefing notes
  • Supports cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners in the field;
  • Conducts other relevant tasks upon the requests of the direct superior

  • conducts other relevant tasks upon the requests of the direct superior
  • regularly follows up on changes in GIZ Orientation and Regulations Tool (O+R) in relation to project’s field of work
