Project Assistant

DIGNITY - Danish Institute Against Torture is seeking a Project Assistant (PA) with solid experience in human rights and programme management and implementation for our Country Office in Amman, Jordan. 




About DIGNITY


DIGNITY is an independent non-governmental anti-torture institution founded in 1982 in Denmark. DIGNITY cooperates with non-state and state partners in Asia, Africa, the MENAQ Region and Central America based on its more than 30 years of experience with rehabilitation of torture victims and prevention of torture and organised violence. 


In 2008, DIGNITY began working in Jordan, and in 20141 DIGNITY opened its office in Amman, in support of its Jordan projects in the areas of access to justice, prevention of torture and rehabilitation for torture victims.

General Duties & Responsibilities:


The PA will support and assist in the implementation of a project with regards to promoting access to justice via different means; including, but not limited to, conducting awareness campaigns on important days with regards to the human rights calendar via production and dissemination of videos, radio spots and a production of a relevant podcast. The main duties and responsibilities will be:


Organizing and attending workshops, seminars, field visits, and meetings related to the project as needed in cooperation with the Jordan office staff and local partner.

Support in implementing the project according to the workplan and monitoring and evaluation plan with close cooperation with the local partner.

Assist local partner when needed with project implementation.

Liaise with service providers and establish a database for the retailers reached out to.

Prepare cash forecasts for the project activities.

Follow up with local CSOs on submission of narrative and financial reports, and evaluation reports.

Monitor Donor visibility guidelines throughout the project.

Follow up with news on different media platforms relevant to DIGNITY’s mandates and share with colleagues.

Drafts narrative reports for donors and evaluation reports of various activities (including providing main input on Outcome Harvesting relevant to the local partners).

Drafts minutes of meetings, translate documents, and support in instant translation when needed.

File relevant documents and correspondences.

Maintain professional relationships with DIGNITY’s partners, stakeholders and the media.

Support when having missions from the DIGNITY Head office to Jordan.

Represent DIGNITY in Jordan in accordance with our values, mandate and strategies.

Solving ad hoc tasks.

 


Qualifications:


Education: Minimum a bachelor’s degree in international relations, development, business administration or another related field.

Work Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar position.

Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English in both written and spoken.

Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills in various office applications like MS Office.

Skills and Competences: Strong planning, organizational, communication and representation skills.

Knowledge of Jordan Government policies, procedures and regulations for INGO operations in Jordan is an advantage.

International donor project experience is a plus.

 


Benefits and Entitlements:


The contract is a 10 months contract. There will be a probationary period of 3 months. Working days are Sunday to Thursday, from 9 am - 4pm with flexibility. Benefits include Social Security, first class medical insurance and a very friendly team working atmosphere. This position is offered on National Terms & Conditions of Employment.
