MillerMusmar International is a wholly owned subsidiary of MillerMusmar CPAs, which is an award-winning CPA firm located in Reston, Virginia that provides accounting, tax, assurance, and management advisory services. We are looking for a Staff Accountant to execute the day-to-day activities of accounting engagements of various clients.
Overview
The Staff Accountant will support general accounting operations for clients by controlling and verifying their financial transactions. They are responsible for assisting in reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures.
Responsibilities
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
- Help prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Assist to develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP principles
- Liaise with partners and other senior staff members to improve financial procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-3 years of current and/or recent accounting experience in public accounting
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
- Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures
- Excellent communication skills required; fluent in English
