Abt Associates seeks a qualified Driver- LHSS Jordan Activity


Job Summary 

Abt Associates seeks a qualified driver for the Local Health System Sustainability Project’s Jordan Activity (LHSS/Jordan). The LHSS Project is USAID’s flagship initiative in integrated health systems strengthening, with a goal to help low- and middle- income countries transition to sustainable, self-financed health systems as a means to support universal health coverage. LHSS/Jordan in particular will work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and private sector in country to 1) strengthen the Jordanian contact tracing system; 2) provide rapid support to improve Jordan's immediate COVID-19 diagnostic capacity and address gaps in Jordan's lab network for infectious disease detection; 3) provide assistance to private and public sector partners for COVID-19 case management and surge support; and 4) advocate to develop a legal framework for telemedicine services.

This is a full-time position based in Amman, Jordan, working under the supervision of the Finance and Admin Manager.

Key Roles and Responsibilities 

The driver will have the following specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Operates a passenger motor vehicle in accordance with Operations Manager’s instructions to transport project personnel and official visitors within the city and surrounding area and travel to the next city. 
  • Maintains vehicle in clean and serviceable condition and performs minor maintenance of a preventative nature. 
  • Maintain an accurate vehicle log book for all trips. 
  • Perform daily inspection of vehicle to include tire pressure, oil and water levels. 
  • Ensure that vehicle insurance is always current. 
  • Report any incidents, accidents or injuries immediately to supervisor. 
  • Quickly notify supervisor about any major repairs and maintenance needed on vehicle. 
  • Follow all driving laws and regulations. 
  • May deliver documents and conduct general business on behalf of the company including basic negotiation skills. 
  • Represent the project, Abt Associates and USAID with professional behavior and communication skills in a diplomatic manner. 


Preferred Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. 
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a professional driver. 
  • Experience with USAID projects and/or Abt projects highly preferred. 
  • Must have local driver’s license appropriate to type of vehicle operated. 
  • Must be familiar with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns. 
  • Strong English speaking skills and fluency in Arabic required. 


Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma + Two years of relevant experience, or Associates Degree
