Information Officer


INSO Background
Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international charity
that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure
contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time
incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management
support, staff orientations and training.
INSO services help NGOs with their day-to-day risk management responsibilities and improve
their overall situational awareness to support evidence-based humanitarian access decisions. The
organisation has grown from innovative start-up to become a globally recognised charity and a
valuable component of the humanitarian safety coordination system. Today, INSO provides daily
support to more than 850 NGOs in twelve of the world’s most insecure countries and has earned a
strong reputation for its performance, principles and professionalism.

Location: Amman, Jordan

Organizational Structure
Under the supervision of the Information Manager, the successful candidate will assist the Director
and other INSO staff in delivering INSO scheduled services in Syria, will be responsible for
overseeing, managing and maintaining NGO registration with INSO Syria and will be responsible of
managing and updating the INSO Syria incident data base:
The successful candidate must be a Jordanian nation and have a professional working proficiency of
Arabic and English (reading, writing and speaking).


Key Duties
1. Managing and maintaining NGO registration with INSO.
2. Preparing, checking, and cleaning the weekly incident list.
3. Maintaining and coding the main database, and all other databases.
4. Developing and updating all dashboards and online visualizations.
5. Identifying any cyber security threats and provide solutions
6. Prepare and update the reports templates, periodically or per request.
7. Understand the ongoing events and the security environment of Syria.
8. Work with other team members to find the best solutions for the weekly list.
9. Build and prepare attractive visualizations (graphs, charts…) upon request.
10. Provide IT support for the teams
11. Provide GIS/Maps support when needed.
12. Any other tasks assigned by the Information Manager.

Qualifications
For the position of Information Officer, INSO is looking for a male or female candidate with the
following qualifications:

1. Good knowledge of the current situation in Syria.
2. Professional experience (at least two years) in information and data management
3. Previous working experience with NGOs or International Organizations is preferred, especially with a focus on Syria or the region.
4. Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic for Application, Access, and Power Query.
5. Good understanding of data collection and data analysis, and good knowledge in Power BI and Tableau.
6. Good knowledge in mapping/GIS applications: ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS.
7. Familiar with Microsoft Publisher and InDesign.
8. Neutral and humanitarian-driven thinking.
9. Attention to details, proactive, problem-solving skills, and detail oriented.
10. Very good spoken and written English.
11. Very good spoken and written Arabic.
