E-Learning Officer


Role Purpose: 
Transforming Refugee Education towards Excellence (TREE) programme is a five-year partnership between the Ministry of Education (MoE), Save the Children, Community Jameel, Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL).
TREE is focused on developing a new approach to improve teacher well-being and teaching quality through professional development. TREE works with teachers in public schools to co-design, prototype and test new tools and approaches for improving teacher well-being and teaching quality in Jordan. By the end of the programme, Save the Children and partners are looking to have developed an effective approach to increasing teacher well-being and teaching quality that can be scaled up in Jordan and to other contexts (regionally and globally).  
In order to improve teacher well-being and teaching quality, Save the Children are committed to increasing blended learning opportunities for teachers through creating a number of e-learning modules/ content. We hope to develop a blended learning modules that will combine both online and face to face professional development components that strengthen teachers’ capacities.
The E-learning Officer will be responsible of providing technical and instructional design support to the online learning experience of teachers. He/she will coordinate with the E-learning production partner; which will be contracted to develop e-learning multi-media.  
Key Areas of Accountability:
Impact:
  • Designing online education experiences and user journeys which inspire self-paced learning and embracing change.
  • Contributing to the learning journey and occupational growth of educators through introducing new digital mediums to their work, sector and circles. 
  • Critically participate in the mainstreaming of human-centered, empathy-driven technology concepts and applications at the organization and the program level.
Developing:
  • Engaging user experiences.
  • Instructional design recommendations, theories and concepts, based on best practices and research from the sector.
  • Guides and resources to assist wider SC teams to recalibrate existing SC content for e-learning purposes.  
Collaborating:
  • Collaborating with trainers, MoE, training instructors and service contractors to develop practical e-learning structures, content and features which achieve the organizational and programmatic needs and intended outcomes, including but not limited to: e-learning platforms, multi-media, downloadable self-study materials, simulations, and online instructor-led training courses.
  • Providing technological technical support to the Transforming Refugee Education towards Excellence (TREE) program team members.
  • Writing tech user manuals and guides which would support the intended users of the e-learning products, multi-media and tools TREE will develop.
  • Communicating technical technological processes in plain, shared language that can be used with the rest of the team, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Contributing to meetings with stakeholders and team members with tech insights and updates relevant to the Transforming Refugee Education towards Excellence (TREE), which the Officer may gain from attending relevant learning circles events, webinars with partners, or self-learning.
Aligning:
  • The construction of the training modules led by the Save the Children instructors with the web and media content which reflects them in their digital format in terms of the initial goals, objectives, and intended outcomes. The E-learning Officer will be responsible of ensuring that the deliverables agreed on with the services contractor match the established, pre-developed criteria or checklist.
  • The consistency of the web and media content on the e-learning platform, in terms of design, quality, and sequence.
Executing:
  • Identification and documentation of patterns in challenges and trends in both the digital communication and joint usage of TREE’s e-learning assets (multi-media and web components) between Save the Children TREE team and the stakeholders.
  • Planning, executing, and evaluating targeted user focused piloting sprints of a range of e-learning models to understand best fit for the wider TREE TPD programme delivery model Producing data layers on websites to report on online user behavior.
  • Quality assurance of the e-learning assets, platforms, content and tools of the program pre, during and post-delivery, based on a criteria and checklists developed by the Officer and approved by their senior and management.
  • Evaluations of the software and hardware the services contractors would propose for e-learning multi-media and web platform development from a technical, technological perspective.
Analyzing and Reporting:
  • Identifying necessary data sources for effective monitoring of Teacher Professional Development activities in relation to TREE’.
  • Identifying the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities of different delivery platforms from a technological perspective and propose solutions for the coverage of these areas.
Performing collection and reporting of data from multiple sources.

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in education technology, instructional design, information technology or other closely-related fields, combined with demonstrated applied knowledge of these domains in education.
  • 3-5 years of  instructional design/pedagogical design experience and experience working in the field of e-learning, particularly involving the Ministry of Education, public institutions or development agencies and NGOs.
  • Basic coding experience. Programming languages possessed by the candidate may include HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • Being an initiative-taker, proactive, inspiring attitude, with the ability to manage and prioritize workload.
  • Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Experience in extracting analytics and reporting on user activity, via programs such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics.
  • Experience working with multi-media e-learning programmes that utilise a number of different technologies and tailor these to the needs of stakeholders.
  • Personal experience of taking online courses in Arabic and English.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate multi-media content from a technological perspective (e.g the quality of hardware and software used, alternatives..).
Preferred:
  • Experience in extracting analytics and reporting on user activity, via programs such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics.
  • Graphic motions and video editing skills, including software such as Adobe Flash, Final Cut Pro (or equivalent) and Edge Animate.
  • Demonstrated experience with User Research, UX design, Human Centered Design, and data visualization.
  • Prior project administration experience.
General understanding of SEO and SEM methods.
Child Safeguarding: (Level 3) the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people
