Proposal Development Officer

SCOPE OF ROLE: 

Reports to:  Awards Management & Development Director

SC Jordan is a Jordanian non-governmental organization (NGO), registered with the Ministry of Social Development and active since 1974.  SC Jordan is one of the 29 national members of Save the Children Association that is represented in 120 countries globally which furnishes SC Jordan with the global knowledge and impact driven practices. SC Jordan has an extensive track of accomplishment in responding to humanitarian and development needs in Jordan in host communities, refugee camp settings, and informal tent settlements (ITSs).  SC Joran is developing, implementing, and sustaining a continuum of highly successful nexus programs to improve living conditions and economic opportunities for displaced and effected children, youth, women and their families in Jordan, regardless of their nationally. SC Jordan applies a holistic approach when designing scalable and sustainable programs in Livelihoods, Child protection, Education, and Health & Nutrition.  

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Support SC Jordan, in both development and humanitarian contexts, by:

  • Identify funding opportunities relevant to SC Jordan’s thematic areas of work from institutional donor agencies and others.
  • Coordinate internal efforts to produce a documented go/ no go decision for each opportunity.
  • Taking the lead on producing high quality proposals in a timely manner and in compliance with donor requirements. This includes effectively liaising with different teams (e.g. MEAL, Supply Chain, Operations, TAs, Finance etc.) to gather the inputs required for the proposal.
  • Facilitating the overall proposal development and communicating deadlines with internal stakeholders, including following up.
  • Take the lead on coordinating high quality and timely donor narrative reports. This includes reviewing narrative reports, maintaining donor reporting schedules, and submitting reports to donors.
  • Supporting in responding to SC member and donor requests for programmatic and financial information.
  • Support in research that is undertaken at the Program Development Unit within the Awards Department
  • Supporting the AMS focal point in ensuring an up-to-date AMS as required. 
  • Investigate reason(s) for unsuccessful proposals and generate meaningful learnings accordingly.
  • Show flexibility and willingness to work on short deadlines and long working hours, and actively participate with incoming surge teams in the event of a crisis or emergency.
  • Comply with and promote Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, and 3 -5 years of relevant experience are required.
  • Proven experience of technical writing, reporting, documentation and data entry
  • Excellent analytical skills – the ability to analyze complex financial data and design and produce effective management information.
  • A solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants
  • Experience of computerized accounts packages, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
  • A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic.
