Senior Structural Design Engineer

Operations · Jordan, Amman

Key Tasks:

- Prepare and provide all design structural design analysis and calculations required

- Undertake multi-discipline design & coordination activities with all relevant members of the design team.

- Ensure the overall stability of designs in the permanent/final condition as well as during construction.

- Ensure reviews are conducted sufficiently in advance of all deadlines, such that any necessary amendments can comfortably be completed prior to issue as agreed.

- Ensure that adequate notes are added to drawings so that all unusual risks, that cannot be eliminated from the design, are highlighted to the contractor, and any specific methods of working or sequencing are described clearly.

- Provide sound technical expertise when applying engineering principles, techniques and methods to design of projects.

- Coordinate and assist the line manager to develop and continuously improve the design review process and to maintain quality.

- Provides technical guidance to Design Engineers, CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project.

- Performs complex engineering tasks effectively and accurately.

- Review and extracts engineering information from CAD Drawings and Revit.

- Prepares engineering designs computations, sketches, and review final design drawings/documents.

- Establishes the design requirements of the project,and monitors the draft and final deliverable for adherence to these criteria.

- Review designs prepared by others as part of a Quality Management process.

- Act as the first level of authority within the design team for technical approval and exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of programs.

- Work independently for extended periods of time and guide junior engineers.

- Create and maintain CAD models and drawings of installations, assembly and detail components that meet all requirements such as structural integrity, interface boundaries, weight and cost targets as directed by the project engineer.

- Conduct periodic design reviews as required to ensure designs meet the requirements.

- Create and maintain documentation that tracks team weekly progress status as it related to the Program budget and deadlines.

- Ensure high standards of presentation are maintained in all documents issued by Structure Mode.

- Attend meetings with clients whenever necessary.

- Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule and project constraints.

- Issue reports, schedules, estimates of probable costs, responses to SOIs, RFPs.

- Review designs prepared by others as part of QA\QC process.

- Any other task assigned by the Line Manager.


 Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks:

- Be an inspiration leader by strong principles and commitment to the organization based on organization, resilience, and agility.

- Sponsor and disseminate an R&D and innovation culture across the department, defining a climate for overall success.

- Identify and establish new opportunities for Design/Projects execution, in alignment with Line Managers and following company’s strategy.

- Lead, maintain and monitor the task management systems for his subordinates, in collaboration with Project Controls.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Software Literacy: Design tools and software MS Office Suite, MS Project

Experience: 7-10 years in design field .

Competencies: 

Knowledge: Layout & design of bridges and related highway structures; Design and analysis using various materials including but not limited to metals such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum & iron; concrete and precast concrete; prestressed and post-tensioned concrete; timber. Various design and documentation software.

Tender design and Design and Construct projects. Value Engineering, Construction (Technical Office), Planning and Controlling, Project Management, Technical Writing.
