Job title: Project officer – Amid East ALC project

Number of positions: 1

Background 

JOHUD is one of the oldest and widest NGOs in Jordan, with a unique national footprint and community links, stemming from more than 45 years of working from and with local communities, in cooperation with regional and international donors, governmental and private sector entities, and civil society organizations. However, it is our presence at the community level and the historic relationships that we have within these communities that define JOHUD as an organization.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under supervision of the Program coordinator at JOHUD, and by the guidelines of AmidEast, the officer helps in managing the training and administrative operations of American Language Center program. The officer facilitates the publicly offered general English courses, skills workshops, customized courses in language and test preparation courses. S/He supports the marketing activities & development efforts of the ALC program, facilitates curriculum development & assessment planning under the guidance of the Program coordinator and supports in teachers’ recruitment, performance reviews & professional development, and provides teacher orientation & training when relevant to Program objectives. The officer is also deeply involved in planning and implementation of the ALC’s American cultural events and activities as well as localized business development offers for companies, organizations and government bodies to sponsor enrollment in ALC courses.



Main Duties:

  • Support the in ensuring that ALC and program objectives are met,
  • Support and contribute to the marketing and business development of language, cultural events and development programs and courses of the ACL
  • Lead on and support the Program coordinator in recruitment, assessing and supervising teachers, trainers, and consultants to ensure successful delivery of quality language, training, and development programs
  • Provide academic and administrative guidance to teachers and trainers
  • Oversee with class timetabling and teachers’ class assignments, in conjunction with staff assistants and officers as well as development of annualized course and marketing plans.
  • Coordinate classroom monitoring, training and implementation of curriculum selection and development with instructors,
  • Assist the Program coordinator in coordinating quality assurance activities; includes program and curricula reviews, testing reviews, student achievement tracking, and timely reporting to external clients, and Oversee day-to-day operation and make sure everything is running properly.
  • Assist the Program coordinator in undertaking staff appraisal, evaluation, and professional development,
  • Support program growth by attending key partner meetings, managing stakeholders, budget management, financial management and general business development
  • Coordinate with the teachers and junior staff to match available trainers with planned assignments
  • Identify and prepare training sessions to address instructor development needs
  • Demonstrate professional behavior at all times,
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to comply fully with AmidEast requirements,
  • Other tasks requested by direct line manager, and/or Program coordinator.



Job requirements:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, English Language, or any related field,


Experience and competencies (both behavioral and technical): 

  • A minimum of 4 Years of experience overseeing development, youth, and community empowerment programs, preferably in the MENA region, including 2 years of coordinating training and/or language courses/programs, and supervising and/or training teachers,
  • Extensive knowledge of English language teaching methods, approaches, and materials,
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment planning is preferred,
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities,
  • Must possess problem-solving skills,
  • Confidence and skillful negotiating skills,
  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under JOHUD’s code of conduct, child safeguarding, and Protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA),
  • Excellent Reporting and computer Skills,
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and excellent sense of organization,
  • Ability to respond effectively to deadlines and high-pressure situations, and efficient time management,
  • Willingness to attend training package prepared for the project.
  • Proactive and goal-oriented, able to set and pursue objectives,
  • A self-starter, positive work attitude and a team player,
  • Respects and exercises confidentiality,



Language Requirements:

  • Fluent English (writing and speaking).
  • Professional competency in Arabic, spoken and written,
